’Augmented Photography’ is a research project by the Master Photography at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne, examining recent changes in photography. It aims to explore creative potential that has emerged with the digitisation of photographic procedures. It pays particular attention to the ways of producing, modifying, diffusing and teaching photography.
The publication presents also productions done by the Master’s students during practical exercises throughout the 2016-2017 academic year, together with a selection of representative works. It gives practionners and those interested in the contemporary visual regime some tools to position themselves in hyper-connected environments. Ultimately, the aim of this publication is to create a theoretical framework adressing the evolution of the photographers’ status. Over recent years, the standards required to become a professional have become increasingly complex. It is no longer sufficient to master production and diffusion tools. If one wishes to leave a trace, it is important to be able to fasten an understanding of the medium in an informed manner.
